Heather Mills the dawning of a new era

 “I’m so glad it’s over,” an emotional Mills told reporters. “It was an incredible result in the end to secure mine and Beatrice’s future and all the charities I plan on helping.”

So it’s over; Heather Mills has got £24.3m in the divorce settlement today. Not bad, £6m for every year they were together. I predict that Heather will be on a PR drive providing much needed oxygen for a cash strapped charity.  Expect the papers that set about her with such maniacal fervor to be happy to have her on their pages once the dust has settled. I am sure Heather will also bury the hatchet for the sake of visibility. It will be an example of a pragmatic turn around in the modern media age.

I watched the TV news footage of Heather outside the court in a wonderfully impromptu press conference naming all the villains, particularly Fiona Shakleton. Sir Paul’s legal rottweiler. Love her or loathe her, she is a phenomenal communicator and uber confident when spinning her position. Although I did think it a bit rich to hear Mills arguing for privacy today, when she has been so open in the past to talk about the relationship. I reckon despite the wrangling, the modest size of the settlement will mean that many more details about the marriage and divorce will come into the public domain.
